Stereotypes of Non-native English Speakers

In today's society especially in the western parts of the world there are a lot of people who judge each other on the way they speak English, I have experienced this too, many times. I was raised in The Netherlands and therefore I speak Dutch, but I already started learning English at the age of 11.

When I was younger I used to play a lot of online games that required interaction with other people, these people were most of the time from the USA or any other English speaking country. So while I was playing these games I had to communicate in English with the other players who were playing, but since my English was very limited at the time they didn't quite understand what I was saying. Most of the time this resulted in a fight, I would be called a 'noob' or a 'stupid idiot' but as time went by I got better and better at the English language and these language-related fights occurred a lot less frequently. Now, over 6 years later, I can understand why these people got so mad at me. Most of these people were from America and were used to people who knew the difference between words like 'bush' and 'brush'. But when you don't know the difference between those words, people will assume that you're dumb and stupid. They don't care if English is your second language because they know that English is the most spoken language in the world and they expect everyone to speak it properly.

Now I still play some of these games today, but now I'm the one who speaks English properly. Every day I see so many people who don't know how to use English grammar correctly, not just in games also in real life. And these days people from all over the world are on Facebook, Twitter or any other social media and you can see people fighting about grammar almost everywhere. There is one website in particular that breaks the record for fighting over grammar, and that is YouTube.
Here is an example;

Now this particular fight might be meant as a joke, but I got this from a random video I found on YouTube. You can go to any video that has comments enabled and the chances of you finding people fighting about grammar will be very high. Some people might find this more offensive than others and therefore I recommend everyone to ignore the people who judge you because of your grammar (except your English Language & Literature teacher). And if you meet someone who is not very good at the English language I suggest you help him out instead of negatively judging him because of it.
